| The Myrtleford Savoy Soccer Club was established
in 1959 when games were played at the Myrtleford Football Club and in 1979 the
Soccer Club relocated to Memorial Park. In
1994 preliminary earthworks were commenced at the rear of the Myrtleford Savoy
Club. The soccer club took sole responsibility for the development of the soccer
pitches through the provision of voluntary labour, equipment and materials and
the club also assisted in the construction of the change rooms, access/carparking,
irrigation, lighting and ongoing maintenance. The facilities were completed for the beginning
of the 1995 season. The Myrtleford Savoy Soccer Club facilities, located behind
the Myrtleford Savoy Sporting Club are of a very high standard. There are 2 full-sized
Pitches, fully lit for night matches, a modern Clubhouse with changing facilities,
and a fully-equipped Canteen, in a park setting. The
facilities are used all year round for home and away soccer matches as well as
other community functions. During 1998/99 Australian Standard lighting was erected
on one of the two fields which enabled the club to host night matches. The facilities are of such a high standard that
it was able to host the New South Wales State Championships for the Under 15s
which were held over four days. This attracted large numbers of visitors not only
to Myrtleford, but to the alpine area. Myrtleford
is also the home ground of the Under 19s Soccer Albury Wodonga Warriors team who
play in the National Youth League on a home and away basis. The
Myrtleford club will this year field 10 teams that consist of juniors from Under
10's to Seniors as well as Senior Ladies and Under 15 girls.' The
club is run by dedicated, hard working committee members as well as volunteers
